The proceedings of the 11th International Mine Ventilation Congress (11th IMVC), is focused on mine ventilation, health and safety and Earth science. The IMVC has become the most influential international mine ventilation event in the world, and has long been a popular forum for ventilation researchers, practitioners, academics, equipment manufacturers and suppliers, consultants and government officials around the globe to explore research results, exchange best practices, and to launch new products for a better and safer industry. It also serves as a useful platform to attract and train future ventilation professionals and mine planning engineers, as well as for mining companies to discover better practices to provide better ventilation planning.

Keynote addresses.- Cooling and Heating.- Fires and Explosions.- Energy.- Numerical Simulation.- Mine Monitoring.- Networks, Standards, Ventilation on Demand.- Diesel Emissions.- Spontaneous Combustion.- Fan.- Case Studies.- Mine Planning.- Occupational Hygiene.- Dust Control.

Dr. Xintan Chang is a professor in the College of Safety Engineering at Xi’an University of Science and Technology (XUST). Prior to his appointment at XUST, He finished his academic studies and received M.S. and Ph.D.  Mining Engineering and Engineering Mechanics, respectively: from Michigan Technological University (U.S.A.).

Dr. Chang is known for his development of mine fire simulation program (MFIRE), which is a worldwide popular computer software program. His research interests also include coal mine ventilation system design and its assessment, mine rescue strategies, mine gas explosion and prevention, etc. Currently, he is principal investigator (PI) for several research projects funded by the Chinese government.

Dr. Chang is the Chairman of the 11th International Mine Ventilation Congress (11th IMVC) and a member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration Engineers (SME). He has  received several Chinese Awards in mining, Outstanding Alumni Award (2017) of Michigan Technological University. In addition, he is an editor/reviewer for several international journals.

Offers in-depth research and operational topics of mine ventilations not covered elsewhere focusing on advances of ventilation engineering Includes selected papers dealing with research and engineering problems within mine ventilation area Casts new light on mining industry both for practitioners and government decision makers Presents handy quick-references helping readers to understand advancements in knowledge and practices
