Prof. Dr. Şerefnur Öztürk was born in 1962. She graduated from Ankara University School of Medicine and completed her neurology residency at the Ankara Numune Education and Research Hospital in 1994. She works at Selcuk University Faculty of Medicine, as Head of the Department of Neurology since 2009. She became Professor of Neurology in 2010. She joined stroke research teams in Arizona University and Pittsburgh University Neurology Departments, at different times after residency. 

She is currently president of the Turkish Neurological Society (TNS) and has served as secretary general and vice president for TNS between 2002 and 2012. She is president of the Turkish Neurology Board Committee and has worked in collaboration with the Turkish Medical Association and Ministry of Health on this area. She is a delegate of WFN and UEMS/ Neurology section and member of UEMS EBN/Examination Committee and member of EFNS CME Subcommittee. She is an active member of TNS Scientific panels and Scientific Working Groups (TNS Critical care, Cerebrovascular Diseases and Quality of Life in Neurology) and European Federation of Neurological Societies Critical Care and Neuroepidemiology and currently for EAN Scientific panels. She is ERASMUS and FARABI coordinator to enhance international relationships at Selcuk University, Faculty of Medicine.

Her main scientific interest areas are cerebrovascular diseases, neurocritical care, neurology education and history of neurology. She has

more than 100 national and international publications in scientific journals and books.

Her hobbies are painting and literature. She is married and has a son.
