This book will help the reader to recognize, diagnose, and treat most of the acute abdominal disorders that may be encountered in the pregnant patient, whether associated with or incidental to the pregnancy. Goran Augustin graduated from the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, Croatia, in 2000 and gained his MSc and PhD from the University of Zagreb in 2004 and 2011, respectively. Following his graduation, he undertook a residency in General Surgery at the Clinical Hospital Center Zagreb and subsequently qualified in General Surgery in 2006 and in the subspecialty of Abdominal Surgery in 2010. He is currently Consultant Abdominal Surgeon at the Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Department of Surgery, Clinical Hospital Center Zagreb and Senior Assistant to Chair of Surgery, School of Medicine, University of Zagreb. Dr. Augustin has served as both Treasurer and Secretary of the Croatian Society of Surgery. In 2009 he won the “Ante Šercer” Award from the Academy of Medical Sciences of Croatia for the best scientific article in Croatia. To date, he has published more than 35 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
