Skin Delivery - To Scheuplein and Beyond

Bob Scheuplein is one of the experts who greatly influenced the thinking of many scientists working in the field of skin penetration today. It is the goal of this special issue to formally thank him for is seminal work that underpins much of the everyday tasks of all those researching in this quickly progressing field by giving an overview of his work through the eyes of his colleagues. This survey is complemented by an article by Bob Scheuplein himself pointing out his current concepts. Not only Bob Scheuplein’s work is recognized in this publication, other innovators like Howard Maibach, Robert Langer, Gordon Flynn, Jon Hadgaft, Annette Bunge and Richard Guy are also acknowledged. This special issue gives an overview of the history and state of the art of skin science by describing the developments of researchers that have contributed to its progress as well as summarizing topical aspects.
