Quality in lucerne and medics for animal production / Qualité de la luzerne et des medics pour la production animale (options méditerranéennes Série A N° 45)

This publication presents the Proceedings of the XIV Eucarpia Medicago spp. Group Meeting, held in Zaragoza and Lleida (Spain) from 12-15 September 2001. The meeting covers all aspects of the improvement of the Medicago genus, germplasm, variety characterization, genetics, cytogenetics, breeding, forage quality and evaluation and utilisation. However, the organisation would like to emphasise the use of the Medicago species for animal production. This topic could be of greater importance at this time since the mad cow disease syndrome and other animal diseases are pushing the animal feed industry towards more forage feeding. Alfalfa and medics can recuperate their traditional importance in animal production and play an important role in the present and future traditional and sustainable feeding systems. The proceedings include 50 presentations in the form of invited papers, oral presentations or posters.
