This book introduces the basic concepts, synthesis techniques, and applications of vertically-oriented graphene. The authors detail emerging applications of vertically-oriented graphene such as field emitters, atmospheric nanoscale corona discharges, gas sensors and biosensors, supercapacitors, lithium-ion batteries, fuel cells (catalyst supports) and electrochemical transducers. They offer a perspective on current challenges to enabling commercial applications of vertically-oriented graphene.
Introduction.- The Properties of Vertically-oriented Graphene.- PECVD Synthesis of Vertically-oriented Graphene: Mechanism and Plasma Sources.- PECVD Synthesis of Vertically-oriented Graphene: Precursor and Temperature Effects.- Atmospheric PECVD Growth of Vertically-oriented Graphene.- Vertically-oriented Graphene for Sensing and Environmental Applications.- Vertically-oriented Graphene for Supercapacitors.- Vertically-oriented Graphene for Other Energy Storage and Conversion Applications.- Conclusions and outlook.
