This book contains the keynote presentations, invited speeches, and general session papers presented at the 2nd International Symposium on Asia Urban GeoEngineering, which will be held from 24 November to 27 November 2017 in Changsha, China. The contents will cover the topics of (i) Fundamental behavior and constitutive model of geomaterials, (ii) Excavation and slope engineering, (iii) Tunnel and underground engineering, (iv) Foundation and foundation treatment, (v) Environmental geotechnical engineering, (vi) Numerical methods in geotechnical engineering. It will provide an opportunity to share knowledge and experiences of the analysis, design, construction, and maintenance of urban geoengineering among engineers, researchers, and professors in Asian countries. It will improve our knowledge of requirements of geoengineering for a long-term sustainable urban development and the need to protect and preserve our environment.

Fundamental Behaviour and Constitutive Model of Geomaterials.- Excavation and Slope Engineering.- Tunnel and Underground Engineering.- Foundation and Foundation Treatment.- Environmental Geotechnical Engineering.- Numerical Methods in Geotechnical Engineering.
Prof. Changyu Ou is the Chair Professor in Department of Civil and Construction Engineering at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. He serves as the Chair of the ATC6 of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical EngCng, Dean of the college of engineering at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, chief editor of Journal of GeoEngineering, (TGS). His research fields include soil behavior, constitutive model, soil improvement and deep excavation problems and he has published more than 200 journal and conference papers on these subjects. Prof. Ou received Outstanding Research Award from National Science Council in Taiwan in the years of 1996, 1998 and 2000. He has edited a monograph book, Deep Excavation: Theory and Practice. Beyond his academic career, Prof. Ou has worked closely with industrial builders, engaging in many laC excavation projects, gaining valuable practical experience in analysis and design.

Prof. RenpengChen is a Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at Hunan University. He works as the Dean of the college of civil engineering at Hunan University. His research interests and expertise includes characterization of pavement and railroad geomaterials, i.e., subgrade soils and foundation soils, soft soil improvement using piles, offshore pile foundation, and TBM tunneling technologies.  He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers about his research projects. Prof. Chen is the associate editor-in-chief of China Journal of Highway and Transport, and the editorial board member of 5 Journals. He is a member of Committee of Sustainability in Geotechnical Engineering (TC307), Asian Regional Technical Committee of Urban Geotechnics, of International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, and vice chair of 3 technical committees of Soft Soil Engineering, Soil Constitutive Relationship and Strength Theory, Transportation Geotechnics, of Chinese Institute of Soil Mechanics and G
