This book covers the latest developments in enzyme immobilization with its wide applications, such as for industry, agriculture, medicine, and the environment. Topics covered include basics of enzyme immobilization, its implication in therapeutics and disease diagnostics, and its significance in solving environmental problems. This is an ideal book for researchers, graduate and postgraduate students, as well as scientists in industry, agriculture and health sectors. This book is a complete summary of enzyme immobilization and also thoroughly covers all the latest research.

This book covers:

  • The last one-hundred years of innovative research done in enzyme immobilization
  • Recent developments in immobilization techniques, such as types of matrices, immobilization methods, and linking agents, as well as enzyme immobilization without any matrices and its properties
  • The physiological and industrial significance of enzymes from plants and the implementation of immobilized enzymes in the treatment of waste water and polluted air
  • Biomedical and bioanalytical applications of immobilized enzymes

100 years of Enzyme Immobilization.- Basics of Enzyme Immobilization.- Enzyme Immobilization: An Important Link between Agriculture and Industries.- Implication of Enzyme Immobilization in Therapeutics as well as Diagnostics of Diseases.- Enzyme Immobilization: Solution Towards Various Environmental Issues.

Dr. Alka Dwevedi had completed her PhD in 2009 from Banaras Hindu University, India, followed by postdoctoral studies in the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, India. She has joined the UNESCO-Regional Centre for Biotechnology, India as a young investigator in 2011. She is presently a guest faculty member at the University of Delhi. She has published 25 articles in peer reviewed international and national journals of repute in the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, biophysics, proteomics, food chemistry, nanotechnology, biotechnology, medicinal chemistry, and pharmacology. She has published 6 book chapters with international publishers, a single author book with Springer International Publishing AG, and one book is undergoing publication (single author, with Springer International Publishing AG ). Most importantly, she is the first author in almost all published articles, reviews, and book chapters. She is an editorial board member in various international journals like; Developmental Microbiology and Molecular Biology, International Journal of Biotechnology and Bioengineering Research, International Journal of Applied Biotechnology and Biochemistry, Wyno Journal of Biological Sciences, International Journal of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Global Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, International Journal of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, World Journal of Biotechnology, and reviewer for several journals. Further, she is a life member of the Indian Biophysical Society, and also a member of the American Chemical Society.
