This is the third of a three-part set on the ground beetles of Fennoscandia. This volume offers a general analysis of the beetle species and includes a discussion on biogeographic principles. The other volumes deal with maps of the areas concerned and specific data about the beetles.
By a combination of conclusions drawn from concrete material of fossil records and somewhat abstract deductions from the present-day distribution pattern of the species, the author has attempted to answer the question of the biological significance of quaternary glaciations. Lindroth's original English summary is reproduced at the end.
