Diagnostic Ultrasound: Musculoskeletal 3e provides an updated, comprehensive content set for diagnostic ultrasound imaging with a focus on ultrasound in 5 sections across almost 1,000 pages. Groups of chapters focus on Anatomy, Ultrasound Techniques, Diagnoses and Differential Diagnoses, and Interventional Procedures with the bulk of the content focused on anatomy and diagnoses of the musculoskeletal (MSK) systems. MSK ultrasound is a rapidly expanding field among radiologists, sports physicians, general practitioners, orthopedic and general surgeons, and neurologists. MSK ultrasound has traditionally been used for abdomen/pelvis/obstetric imaging but the use of MSK ultrasound is an evolving field. Since the 2e of Diagnostic Ultrasound: MSK published in 2018, ultrasonographers are much surer of the benefits and limitations of MSK ultrasound across the wide range of application which is driving the expanded use of MSK ultrasound.

Develop a solid understanding of ultrasound and evolving musculoskeletal ultrasound practices with this multiple award-winning point-of-care reference in the popular Diagnostic Ultrasound series. Written by leading experts in the field, the third edition of Diagnostic Ultrasound: Musculoskeletal offers detailed, clinically oriented coverage of anatomy, techniques, and diagnoses in this complex area. Featuring more than 3,600 print and online-only images and 100+ videos, this edition showcases today’s rapidly evolving musculoskeletal ultrasound practice and its expanding applications for everyday clinical use. More than 100 detailed, clinically-oriented chapters provide expert guidance on ultrasound anatomy, technique, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, reporting, and ultrasound-guided interventional procedures for the entire musculoskeletal system.
  • Reflects the most current ultrasound techniques for each body section, and dozens of revised diagnosis chapters that feature new content, ultrasound images, and schematics
  • Contains new chapters on nerves, brachial plexus, synovial biopsy and more, as well as newly up-to-date anatomy chapters with more clinically relevant schematic diagrams
  • Uses a bulleted, templated format that helps you quickly find and understand complex information, as well as thousands of high-quality images and illustrations
  • Describes how to write an efficient, useful, and factually correct ultrasound report
  • Approaches musculoskeletal ultrasound from the viewpoints of a specific diagnosis (Dx section) as well as that of a specific ultrasound appearance (DDx section)
  • Offers updates on fundamental ultrasound technique, ultrasound anatomy, and pitfalls, ideal for those either new to musculoskeletal ultrasound or those with limited experience who wish to improve their skill set
  • Serves as an ideal reference for radiologists, sonographers, rheumatologists, orthopedic surgeons, sports physicians, and physiotherapists
  • Includes an eBook version that enables you to access all text, figures, and references, with the ability to search, customize your content, make notes and highlights, and have content read aloud; additional digital ancillary content may publish up to 6 weeks following the publication date
. The 3e delivers a set of completely updated anatomy chapters (33) that are comprehensive and deliver a more clinically relevant section, including more relevant schematic diagrams. The Technique chapters (12) are updated to reflect the most current ultrasound methods for various sections of the body. The Diagnosis group of chapters (47) is thoroughly updated and new content, images, and literature references are included throughout. The Differential Diagnosis chapters (19) are updated to reflect the latest knowledge and discovery of MSK diagnoses. New chapters in the 3e are in place on brachial plexopathy, neuralgic amyotrophy, synovial biopsy, and elastography.

Professor James F. Griffith is an academic clinical radiologist working at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has 25 years of experience working with musculoskeletal ultrasound in a clinical setting from the initial inception of high-resolution ultrasound into clinical practice. He is a head of a busy Musculoskeletal Imaging Unit covering all aspects of musculoskeletal imaging, including ultrasound, CT, MR, PET/CT and intervention. This imaging cross integration allows him to fully appreciate the benefits of ultrasound in the work-up and treatment of different musculoskeletal conditions. He has published nearly 300 peer-reviewed papers on various aspects of musculoskeletal imaging, as well as conducting and participating in at least 40 musculoskeletal ultrasound workshops.
