This book is a useful review of current concepts in the use of insulin therapy for the management of diabetes.

Beginning with discussion on the history of insulin therapy and associated physiology, the following chapters examine different types of insulin, and its delivery and uses for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. A complete chapter is dedicated to analogue insulin, a sub-group of human insulin, which is laboratory grown but genetically altered to create either a more rapid acting or more uniformly acting form of the insulin (Diabetes.co.uk).

The final chapter covers adverse effects of insulin therapy and a detailed appendices section discusses storage of insulin, and injection sites and techniques.
