This book amalgamates the basic concepts in understanding the science of maxillofacial skeleton with the clinical skills required towards managing complex facial fractures. The book is presented in two sections. The first section introduces the readers with the introduction to maxillofacial trauma, biomechanics of maxillofacial skeleton, the principle of internal fixation, medicolegal aspects of maxillofacial trauma, and preoperative workup which provides a brief outline towards an understanding of the basic concepts about the anatomy and physiology of facial skeleton. The second section is oriented clinically with case-based discussions that start from the emergency management of facial trauma including the recent protocols of basic life support and advanced trauma life support, emergency airway management followed by definitive management guidelines in stabilizing and fixing the fractured facial bones. The clinical cases have been discussed in a way to provide practical knowledgeand skills to the postgraduate students and clinicians who will enhance their knowledge and facilitate the decision-making process. Dr. Akhilesh Kumar Singh graduated as a university topper from KGMU, Lucknow. He completed his postgraduation from SCBMCH, Cuttack. He is recipient of three prestigious fellowships i.e Fellow of International College of Surgeons (FICS) and both International & Indian Board certified Fellow in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery ( FIBCSOMS & FIBOMS). He was also recipient of prestigious “Amar Kashyap Bhargav Award” from International College of Dentists. He is Life member of various National & International academic societies i.e. IAOO, FHNO, AOMSI. He has been National Faculty, Panelist and Invited Guest Speaker in various scientific conferences across the country. He is also Editorial Secretary of National Journal of Maxillofacial Surgery. He has published around 40 research papers in various renowned international and National journals. Presently He is working as Associate Professor in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Unit of IMS, BHU, Varanasi.

Dr. Naresh Kumar Sharma has completed his graduation and postgraduation from King Georges Medical University Lucknow in 2001. Presently He is Professor in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Unit, of IMS, BHU, Varanasi. He has served as Dean & Head, Faculty of Dental Sciences, BHU from 2014-2017. He published around 50 research papers in various National & International indexed journals.Dr. Sharma has been acknowledged as ‘Best Teacher’  in Faculty of Dental Sciences, Banaras Hindu University in 2014 and  has been recognized as a Distinguished alumnus of King George Medical University,Lucknow in 2016. Dr. Sharma was awarded “Fellow of International College of Surgeons (FICS)” in 2019.  He was also appointed as Table instructor in AOCMF Lucknow in 2011.He delivered guest lectures in various national platforms and has acted as an organizing chairman of National and State level conferences.
