The purpose of this book is to provide a review of tectonic outlines of the Asian continent, metallogenesis rules of 242 large deposits or fields in 67 tectonic units of 6 tectonic domains in the Asia, and guidelines for the mining companies to effectively prospect the large deposits in the Asia in future. The main contents include the tectonic evolution of every tectonic unit in Asia at different geological periods, the mechanism of growth and intraplate deformation of the Asian continental lithosphere, the lithospheric types of the Asian continent, and relationship between tectonic evolution and mineralization process in the Asian continent.

Introduction.- Tectonic Domains and Tectonic Units in Asian Continent.- The Tectonic Evolution of Asian Continental Lithosphere.- Tectono-Metallogenesis in Asian Continent.

Tianfeng Wan is a professor of China University of Geosciences (Beijing). During 1988-1998, he was the chief secretary of IGCP 224 and 321 projects (for Asian Tectonics), the head of Group for Structural Geology and Tectonic, and the head of Open Laboratory of Lithosphere Tectonic and Geodynamics. He mainly teaches Geology, including Tectonics, Applied Structure Geology, Tectonic Stress Field, Introduction of Geosciences at China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and many institutes in China and other countries, he has lectured at research institutes of South Korea, Vietnam, Russian (USSR), Thailand, Malaysia and Japan etc. His research interests are the structural geology, tectonics and metallogenesis (especially the ancient and recent tectonic stress field for oil and gas fields and ore deposits). He has published 10 books (4 in English), and 140 papers (36 in English, others in Chinese). His monograph “The Tectonics of China: Data, Maps and Evolution” in English was co-published in 2011 by High Education Press (HEP) and Springer.

Divides the Asian continent into 6 tectonic domains and 67 tectonic units and considers that the Asian continental plate is composed of 28 giant plates and more than hundreds of small blocks, which have undergone multi-period subductions, collisions and convergences to form 38 collision zones and intraplate deformations by more than 14 tectonic events

Identifies the tectonic stress field method as the main approaches to study the Asian tectonics and its dynamic mechanism

Studies the relationship of tectonic evolution and mineralization process based on the data of 242 large and super-large deposits in Asia from more than 1000 references, personal communications, 50-year research experience

Collects related data from decade of research including survey of field geology and deposits on site
