Recent Advances in Computational Mechanics and Simulations, 1st ed. 2021 Volume-I: Materials to Structures Lecture Notes in Civil Engineering Series, Vol. 103

Langue : Anglais
Couverture de l’ouvrage Recent Advances in Computational Mechanics and Simulations
This book presents selected papers from the 7th International Congress on Computational Mechanics and Simulation, held at IIT Mandi, India. The papers discuss the development of mathematical models representing physical phenomena and apply modern computing methods to analyze a broad range of applications including civil, offshore, aerospace, automotive, naval and nuclear structures. Special emphasis is given on simulation of structural response under extreme loading such as earthquake, blast etc. The book is of interest to researchers and academics from civil engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, materials engineering/science, physics, mathematics and other disciplines.
Propagation of elastic waves in non-local bars and beams.- Mechanics of damage at steel-concrete interfaces in RC structures.- A discussion on locking and nonlocking gradient-enhancement formulations for concrete behavior.- On flexure of shear deformable isotropic rectangular propped cantilever beams.- Progressive collapse potential of steel frames sustaining post-hazard support-yielding.- Influence of concrete fill on the buckling characteristics of slender circular steel tubes.- Vibration of flexible member in offshore structures.- Nonlinear analysis of mooring system for an offshore desalination platform.- Finite element studies and dynamic analysis of initially stressed functionally graded plates using a refined higher order shear deformation theory.- Vibration analysis of functionally graded material plate.- ANN based random first-ply failure analyses of laminated composite plates.- Interaction of higher buckling modes in uniformly compressed simply supported unstiffened plates.
Sandip Kumar Saha is an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi. He obtained his Ph.D. from IIT Delhi, India, and postdoctoral work in the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. His research interests include computational structural dynamics, performance-based earthquake engineering, uncertainty modeling in dynamical systems and multi-hazard (earthquake, wind, fire, blast, etc.) protection of structures.

Mousumi Mukherjee is an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi, India. She received her Ph.D. in civil engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India and pursued postdoctoral work in the School of Civil, Environmental and Mining Engineering at the University of Adelaide, Australia. Her research interests include geomechanics, constitutive modeling of frictional material, soil instability analysis, modeling of debris flow, numerical modelling of large deformation problems pertinent to geotechnical engineering.
